    Riviera Maya Edition Hotel - Located in the Kania development and the first Edition property in Mexico, this 182-guest-room and suite resort is set to open in 2024, featuring a 27,000 sq ft penthouse offering. The hotel was named one of the best hotels of 2024 by Travel and Leisure. The architects chose clean lines to accentuate the dramatic central lobby and reflective pools, balancing both aesthetics and the environment.     Rio Secreto - Protected nature reserve located in the lush jungle, 10 minutes from Playa del Carmen. Rio Secreto is an active subterranean river system of caves, turquoise rivers, stalactites, and stalagmites that create an otherworldly setting. Wade and swim through the crystal clear water, surrounded by dramatic rock formations millions of years in the making.

    5th Avenue (La Quinta Avenida) - Parallel to the Caribbean shoreline, this 20-block passage in Playa del Carmen is where the cosmopolitan side of Riviera Maya shines the brightest.     El Fogon - Where chefs, locals, and in-the-know travelers come for its famous al pastor tacos, cooked on the spit with pineapple. The rest of the menu is wide and should not be ignored. Step out of the resorts, or stop and taste real Mexico. Open late for your post-game taco fix.

    Axiote - created by Chef Xavier Perez Stone, winner of Top Chef Mexico, is a Playa del Carmen spot that curates an elevated yet approachable fine dining experience, showcasing Mexico’s culinary soul through a journey complemented by artisanal mezcal and award-winning hospitality. 

    Nicolleta - Located along Playa del Carmen’s iconic Quinta Avenida, this Italian restaurant elevates classic Italian cuisine with locally sourced ingredients from Mexico. The menu is the creation of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, Chef’s Choice Award, Tomas Kalika. 

    Kascabal - Also located on 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen, this spot stands out with Mayan-inspired flavors, fine seafood, and elegant presentation on display. Come on the weekend to experience its renowned fire show and creative tasting menus.

    Lara y Luca - Tucked in a quieter corner in Playa Del Carmen, this European-inspired cafe shines with its international and European-inspired menu. The kitchen brings freshness and simplicity for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 

  • Where to Eat & Drink Part Two

    Ha’ - Founded by the first Mexican chef ever to earn a Michelin star, Chef Carlos Gaytan elevates Mexico’s ancestral flavors into a world-class tasting journey. In Mayan, “Ha” means water, and the entire dining room reflects this element. The menu, maybe the most refined dining experience in Riviera Maya, is offered as a 7-course tasting menu with optional wine pairings.

    Le Chique - led by Chef Jonathan Gomez Luna, has been awarded a Michelin star for its culinary creativity. The tasting menu spanning 24-30 curated courses is a journey through molecular techniques, challenging your expectations, with flavors constantly evolving to keep its guests delightfully off guard. Located in Puerto Morelos at the Azul Beach Resort.

    Ponta Corcho- Set in an airy palapa-style, second-story space in Puerto Morelos with sweeping ocean views, Chef Daniel Ovadia draws inspiration from the old name of the town, “Punta Corcho”-creating his food with local pride and creativity. Recognized with a Bib Gourmand from Michelin, the menu blends seafood and fire, showcasing coastal Mexican flavors. There is no pretension here, just local flavor, fresh sea air, and memorable views.

    El Pirata - This bright blue exterior seafood joint, with plastic tables and laid-back vibes, is where locals and savvy travelers go for genuine seafood. This no-frills spot just off 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen is a go-to for fresh seafood, good drinks, and live music.

    La Cueva de Chango - Rustic jungle haven, with cascading streams, and thatched ceilings creating a natural sanctuary within the heart of Playa del Carmen, serving authentic Mexican cuisine from breakfast through dinner.

  • Where to Eat & Drink Part Three

    Choux Choux Cafe- Bohemian cafe known for its creative decor of botanicals, repurposed art, murals, and a shipping container coffee bar. Excellent coffee is a highlight, as are fruit juices, smoothies, and elevated breakfast and brunch dishes. Great wifi, tables, and ambient lighting make this a favorite among digital nomads. Go early; it fills up quickly.

    Maria Dolores - Flagship restaurant within ATELIER Playa Mujeres, this luxury restaurant is headed by Edgar Nunez (Sud 777). Both tasting menus and a la carte options are available, both driven by seasonal Mexican ingredients. The restaurant boasts an extensive list to complement the kitchen's elevated cuisine. 

    Bamboo Cafe - This casual yet bustling cafe with marina views is an excellent spot to start your day with espresso, juices, smoothies, and our favorites, the empanadas. 

    Paparazzi Pizza - A casual Italian pizzeria located in Plaza Marina of Puerto Aventuras, their specialty is thin-crust pizza. The menu also offers traditional pastas loaded with seafood and a solid drinks menu. 

    Italian Bakery & Cafe - Also bringing a taste of Italy to the marina is this cafe-bakery serving fresh breads, pastries, deli items, and excellent coffee. 

    Pampa Fuego - Argentine-inspired steakhouse in Puerto Aventuras delivering an authentic grill experience. Locally sourced fish, salmon, picanha, and ribeye are all grilled to perfection. A favorite must be the homemade empanadas.  Exceptional service, great mezcalitas, and wine make for the perfect meal under the stars. 

  • Where to Eat & Drink Part Four

    Cafe Ole- ”You hook it, we cook it”, the motto of this local favorite since 1990, serving American, Mexican, and grill-style dishes. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, the crowd spills over into the marina to catch the live music and karaoke shows. It’s a casual and lively setting where locals and visitors mingle, and the staff is fantastic. 

    Jessie Gelato Artesanal- Helping patrons make their after-dinner stroll even sweeter, serving up homemade Italian gelato, crafted daily. Located on the inner marina next to Cafe Ole in Puerto Aventuras.

    Restaurante 081 (CeroOchoUno)-Specializing in Italian fare, serving up popular dishes of pizza, pasta, seafood, and their star dessert, tiramisu.

    Nauti Burro - Puerto Aventuras’s version of “Cheers”, serving up burritos, tacos, and wings with a full bar and signature cocktails for locals and visitors alike. Beyond hanging with your friends, live music is a draw here. Expect a range of music, from rock to country, performed by local musicians. Check their Instagram page for upcoming shows and arrive early, or you'll have to wait for your drink at the marina.

    Bendita Costilla - This fun, open-air Argentinian grill concept, loved by locals and visitors for its bold flavors and festive atmosphere, features generous portions of grilled ribs and steaks. The flagship can be found in Playa del Carmen, and the group has recently opened an additional location in Puerto Aventuras.

    La Caleta - Nestled in the inner marina area of Puerto Aventuras, this open-air restaurant features whole fish caught that morning, shrimps, ceviches, and grilled meats. We chose the entire fish, which we picked, watched the chef prepare, and cooked it over an open flame. The exceptional staff then presented it tableside, complete with salad and vegetables. The marina-side seating and sunset views make this spot a favorite for romantic dinners and incredible seafood.

    CASA -A boutique, 5-star, Mediterranean cafe and wine bar, specializing in high-quality European-inspired bites as well as grab-and-go treats and excellent coffee.
