Condesa, Why We Love It:

Tree-lined streets, Art Deco architecture, and laid-back luxury. Condesa has a residential vibe with just the right buzz.

  • Where to Stay

The Ritz-Carlton- Although not actually located in Condesa, we will list it here due to its proximity to the neighborhood and the breathtaking views it offers. The second-tallest tower in Mexico City, at 58 stories, features the Ritz’s transition from old-world glamour to modern glass and steel, with clean geometric lines, floor-to-ceiling windows, and marble-clad bathrooms. Approximately 90 percent of the hotel's 153 rooms feature private balconies that face west, offering panoramic views over the Bosque de Chapultepec and La Condesa. A signature spa and wellness center, as well as an art deco rooftop restaurant and bar with views of all of Mexico City.

Aposento Boutique Hotel - Comfort and authenticity are the hallmarks of this 5-star boutique hotel. If you are looking for relaxation, an intimate getaway, or urban exploration, this bed and breakfast checks all the boxes.

Four Seasons - Classic luxury in the heart of Mexico City, blending colonial-style architecture with modern amenities. Lounges, restaurants, bars, spa, pool, and lush gardens await you.

Hotel Dama - An intimate 17-room boutique hotel situated in a 1950s building on a quiet, tree-lined street in Condesa. The hotel and rooms are decorated with bespoke furnishings, Oaxacan ceramics, and curated artwork. A library lounge, rooftop terrace, and restaurant draped in jacarandas, along with an on-site spa and wellness center, highlight this gem.

  • Things to Do

The Museum of National Anthropology - Mexico’s largest and most visited museum, ranking as one of the world's most visited museums globally. Immerse yourself in a showcase of Mexico’s architecture and rich cultural heritage. The museum houses significant artifacts from Mexico’s past, including those of the Aztecs and the Stone of the Sun.

Danza de los Voladores(Dance of the Flyers) - An ancient indigenous ceremony recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, can be seen outside the Museum of National Anthropology. This breathtaking performance, which involves four flyers launching themselves from the top of a 30m-high pole, tied by ropes and spinning slowly toward the ground, is a profoundly spiritual ritual that invokes rain and fertility.

Bosque de Chapultepec - also known as the Hill of the Grasshopper- is an urban park often referred to as the “green lung” of Mexico City. At 2100 acres, it is larger than NYC Central Park, offering its visitors a multi-layered experience of ecology, culture, and heritage.

Chapultepec Castle- North America’s only royal palace- is perched high on a hill in Bosque de Chapultepec and today houses the National Museum of History.

Museum of Modern Art and Museo Tamayo - Two museums located within Chapultepec Park feature collections by Rufino Tamayo, Freda Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and many more.

Shopping all of the vintage and indie stores - Amor y Rosas, San Junipero Vintage, EXIST

  • Where to Eat & Drink

Esquina Comun - What began as underground dining by partners Ana Dolores Gonzalez and Carlos Perez Puelles in their apartment in Roma has blossomed into a clandestine, open-air rooftop in Condesa, with a 2024 Michelin Star. There are no white tablecloths at this 30-seat covered space, but rather fairy lights, bright murals, and lush greenery. Using a pairing of local produce and proteins, the menu here is impressive and is redefining fine dining. Reservations are a must and can only be made through Instagram.

El Pescadito - Casual neighborhood taqueria serving up high-quality fish and shrimp tacos. Our favorite is the chile relleno stuffed with shrimp-” Que-Sotote.

Handshake Speakeasy - 2024 World's Best Bar. 2025 North America's Best Bar. Behind the solid black door marked only with “13” sits this 1920 Prohibition era speakeasy, where you will have 90 minutes with 31 other patrons to try as many signature offerings as possible. The bar also features a downstairs extension, COMPROMISO, which we thought had a cool Japanese flair. Make reservations well in advance.

Tlecan - ”Place of fire,” a mezcaleria focusing on the ritual and heritage behind mezcal. The focus here is on flavor, and rightfully so, with the impressive collection of artisanal agave distillates from small-scale producers. This, combined with transforming mezcal into artful cocktails, has helped them become #20 on the World’s Best Bars list (2024) and #3 on North America’s Best Bars list (2025). No reservations.

  • Where to Eat & Drink Part Two

Baltra – Named after a volcanic island in the Galapagos, this Charles Darwin-inspired cocktail lounge crafts sophisticated, meticulously prepared cocktails in an intimate and cozy living room setting. A neighborhood gem and sibling to famed Licoreria Limantour, this spot has climbed to #20 on North America’s Best Bars (2025).

Ladina Bar- Favorite spot for locals and travelers alike to unwind in a speakeasy-like ambiance. Solid bar and weekend brunch menu combined with excellent renditions of your classic favorites, as well as inventive brunch cocktails.

Fifty Mils- Located inside the Four Seasons hotel, this exclusive yet comfortable setting, along with award-winning mixology, makes this bar a staple among classic hotel bars, and it was awarded Top Four Best International Hotel Bars (2022).

La Clandestin - Simple, dimly lit space offering mezcal flights and adventurous food pairings—an unpretentious setting for a rich mezcal experience.

Castacan - a vibrant taqueria from the team behind Contramar, serving upscale tacos. Our favorites are the conchinita pibil and castacan, crispy pork belly tacos.
